How do I book a tour of Grand and Vine?

Click Book a Tour anywhere on this site and tell us your name, contact information and desired move-in date. Your request goes to our leasing team, and we’ll reach out to set a time. Prefer to talk? Call (515) 369-6000.

How do I apply, and what does it cost?

Applications are submitted online through the listing on our availability page: click the apartment you want and choose Apply Now. The application fee is $40.

What do I need to qualify?

Kouri Management reviews every application against the same published criteria: income of three times the rent, rental history, and a background review. Some homes also carry a credit screen, which the listing will say. The full criteria are on Kouri’s rental application process page.

What sizes are the apartments?

There are three plans: a two-bedroom, two-bath at 1,050 square feet, a two-bedroom, one-bath at 900 square feet, and a single one-bedroom at 570 square feet. Current rents for open apartments are on the availability page, and every listing shows its exact price.

What comes with the building?

Every apartment has a private balcony or patio. The building has a secured entry and laundry on site, and lawn care and snow removal are handled for you.

Are there garages?

Yes. There are garages on site, rented separately from the apartments. Ask about garage availability when you tour.

Are pets allowed?

Ask the leasing team about your pet when you call or tour. Pet policies, restrictions and fees are set at the time of your application.

Who manages Grand and Vine?

Grand and Vine is professionally managed by Kouri Management Corporation. Residents pay rent and submit maintenance requests through the online resident portal.

What if nothing is available when I look?

With sixteen apartments, openings are occasional. Send us your details or call (515) 369-6000 and we’ll put you on the wait list.

Where is Grand and Vine located?

At 1620 Vine Street in West Des Moines, Iowa, just off Grand Avenue. The Hy-Vee on Grand Avenue is 0.7 miles away, Stilwell Junior High is 0.2 miles up Vine Street, Jordan Creek Town Center is 5.1 miles, and downtown Des Moines is 6 miles. Distances are road miles.

Is this the same building as Grandeur Vine Apartments?

Yes. The building at 1620 Vine Street was previously called Grandeur Vine Apartments. It is now Grand and Vine Apartments.

What schools are near Grand and Vine?

Stilwell Junior High, one of the two junior highs in West Des Moines Community Schools, is 0.2 miles up Vine Street. Hillside Elementary is 1.0 miles, Valley Southwoods Freshman High School (grade 9) is 2.5, and Valley High School (grades 10 to 12) is 1.8. Sacred Heart, a Catholic school on Grand Avenue, is 0.3 miles. Attendance areas are set by the district, so confirm the address with the WDMCS boundary lookup before you count on a particular school.

Where do residents buy groceries?

The Hy-Vee on Grand Avenue is 0.7 miles away and Fareway, also on Grand, is 1.3. Target on Valley West Drive is 2.8 miles, Whole Foods on University Avenue is 2.9, and Trader Joe’s and Costco near Jordan Creek are 4.5 and 5.1.

What is Valley Junction, and how close is it?

Historic Valley Junction is West Des Moines’ original downtown: the 100 to 300 blocks of 5th Street, lined with locally owned shops and restaurants. The 5th Street strip is 1.1 miles from the building. The Valley Junction Farmers Market runs there every Thursday evening from May through September.

How do I get to the interstate?

Two ways. North on 22nd Street to I-235 is 2.4 miles, which is the route toward downtown Des Moines and the east side. West on Grand Avenue to I-35 is 3.6 miles, which is the route toward Jordan Creek, Ankeny and the I-80 corridor. Highway 28 (63rd Street) crosses Grand Avenue 1.4 miles east of the building.

How far is downtown Des Moines?

Downtown Des Moines is 6 miles by road, with I-235 covering most of it. Drake University is 5.8 miles and Gray’s Lake Park is 6. We publish miles instead of drive times because a drive time depends on when you leave.

How close is the airport?

Des Moines International Airport is 5.9 miles, south across the Raccoon River on Fleur Drive.

What parks and trails are nearby?

Holiday Park, with the city aquatic center and ball fields, is 1.1 miles. Raccoon River Park, 2.7 miles south, has Blue Heron Lake with a swimming beach, a dog park and paved trails that connect into the metro trail system.

Where is the nearest hospital?

MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center is 4.3 miles west on the I-35 side of town. Downtown Des Moines, with the other major hospitals, is 6 miles.

Where is the public library?

The West Des Moines Public Library on Mills Civic Parkway is 2.4 miles away.

What is around the building day to day?

The building sits a block south of Grand Avenue, which carries most everyday errands: Hy-Vee at 0.7 miles, La Barista coffee at 0.6, Fareway at 1.3. Stilwell Junior High and Sacred Heart are a few hundred yards away, and Valley Junction’s shops and restaurants are 1.1 miles east.
